About the event
Regeneration is the natural process of replacing or restoring damaged or missing cells, tissues, organs, and even entire body parts to full function in plants and animals. The same applies on a personal, interpersonal and planetary scale. Human and planetary health are inextricably interrelated, we can not talk about one without addressing and understanding the other. Through exploring regenerative practices on a personal and planetary scale we can have a great and profound impact on inner and outer landscapes and lifestyles. We can heal the planet. We can heal ecosystems. We can heal ourselves. We can fit back into the community of life and create a more abundant place. We can move from competitive scarcity to shared abundance. We can not only reduce our footprint, but work together to co-create a collective handprint, giving space to ourselves and our planet.
Acknowledging the inherent connection we have to the land and our role as stewards and guardians of it. The objective of the Re-Generate "Ret-Treat" is to bring experts and enthusiasts together to facilitate an experiential education event in a unique and healing location in Jordan (Dead Sea / RSCN's Mujib Biosphere Reserve) to truly understand and embody regenerative practices on a personal, interpersonal and planetary scale. Exploring the inherent interconnections and the role each of us can play in dreaming, designing and creating a regenerative future for all life.
The main objective of the Re-Generate "Re-Treat" is to instill a sense of embodied awareness and knowledge amongst participants, specifically those working towards more sustainable and regenerative spaces and places, including but not specific to the built environment - buildings, communities, districts and cities. This will be done through a design charette to develop a case study concept proposal for how this could look like on the site - Mujib Biosphere Reserve. The hope is that we don't stop there, but plant these seeds in our work, lives and communities to create a Regenerative, Resilient, Inclusive and Healthy planet for all life.
About Mujib Biosphere Reserve
Established in 1987 by the Royal Society for Conservation of Nature (RSCN), Mujib Biosphere Reserve covers an area of 212 km2. Bordering the Dead Sea at 402 meters below sea level, the Mujib Biosphere Reserve surrounds Wadi Mujib, a deep and majestic canyon that cuts through the rugged highlands and drains into the Dead Sea, offering one of the best river and adventure hikes in Jordan. Mujib’s complex river system and all-year water flow enable it to support a rich biodiversity. To date, over 300 species of plants, 10 species of carnivores and numerous species of resident and migratory birds have been recorded. The Dead Sea, the deepest and most saline lake on earth, has been known from biblical times for its healing properties.
